The Asus Zenfone 2 was a big hit this year as it was the first smartphone to use 4 GB RAM in its hardware specifications. Moreover, Asus managed to design and engineer a smartphone that is not only pleasing to the eye and touch but boasts with excellent performance reviews in the long run. The Asus Zenfone 2, although marketed as a mid-ranger, is a very well-balanced smartphone that can cater to all types of smartphone users across the world. Even if Asus hasn’t been in the spotlight that much for its smartphones, it does have a very good track record with hardware, which has been a helpful part of their reputation when it came to marketing for the Asus Zenfone 2.
When it was first launched this Spring, the Asus Zenfone 2 price was a bit on the higher side for the 4 GB RAM version, so people who didn’t want to spend too much opted for the 3 GB RAM variant, which at the time, was considerably cheaper. Since then, however, the Asus Zenfone 2 price was brought down a bit and you can now find the 4 GB RAM Asus Zenfone 2 for only $237 on GearBest. which is a good price for a very capable and popular smartphone. With its dual-SIM capabilities and 4G LTE antennae, the device already sounds rather appealing for the price.
Even though there are cheaper options out there, few of them boast with the multitude of features the Asus Zenfone 2 offers up to the customer. Aside from the plastic design, the handset is rather well-balanced when it comes to design elements, as it takes a bit of inspiration from last year’s LG G3 and this year’s LG G4. The slim bezels and slightly curved back panel of the phone make it comfortable to hold and easy to use one-handed.
The hardware of the Asus Zenfone 2 is comprised of a Quad core Intel Z3560 CPU backed by a PowerVR G6430 GPU, 4 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage with a microSD card slot available for extra expansion, in case you need it. Android 5.0 Lollipop is on top of everything with minimal skinning and bloat coming from Asus, which is an appreciated omission. The 5.5 inch FHD (1920*1080) display might not be as bright as the display of the LG G4 or Galaxy S6, but it certainly rivals the display we find on the iPhone 6 Plus.
On the camera side of things, the Asus Zenfone 2 gets a 13 MP camera on the rear with dual-tone LED flash and a 5 MP camera on the front. Although the photography experience is not exemplary, it is very good and pleasant and will satisfy most of the Android fans out there. The 3000 nAh battery completes the package with a durable and extended battery life that is reported to extend to 2 days of moderate use, which is rather exemplary for a phablet with a high resolution display and 4G LTE. Overall, the Asus Zenfone 2 is an excellent investment at the price it’s offered at at the moment and everyone should at least have a look at it and consider it when upgrading their smartphone this year.
