It seems as if Square Enix is doing some spring cleaning, as they’ve launched a sale with some seriously steep discounts on a lot of popular titles. 2016 was an incredibly successful year for Square Enix, with Final Fantasy XV being the “fastest selling final fantasy game of all time. This blockbuster title accompanied by solid titles like World of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest builders showed any who doubted that the developer is still a force to be reckoned with. It looks like they’re trying to entice new or returning players to pick up copies of games they’re missing in their collection, including some surprising physical copies of games for the Playstation 1.
The sale features discounts of up to 75% on current PS4, Xbox One, and PC games from the developer. Fans of merchandise like plushies and artbooks will be happy to hear that these items are also heavily discounted.
Behind the sale of current games lies a more surprising sale on some retro titles, some of which are rather difficult to get your hands on. Many retro games and fan favorites are available with physical copies, including classics like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IX. All these titles are available for under $20 too, which makes it a bargain if you can manage to dust off your Playstation 1 to re experience these awesome games.
As successful as Square Enix was in 2016, their sights are set ever-forward with a recent partnership between Square Enix and Marvel. These two collections of IPs combined could lead to some really exciting titles in the new future. Square Enix definitely had some less than successful titles in recent history, namely the fact that they beat the FFXIII series to death with titles that very few people really cared about. Final Fantasy XV was a gigantic success, and it remains to be seen whether the company will capitalize on this success and use it to move the franchise and company forward, or if we’ll end up with another misfire which once again move Square Enix into trepidatious territory. Take a look at the spring sale here.
