The Xiaomi Mi4C is the latest and probably last member of the Xiaomi Mi4 family of devices, a family that has taken the international smartphone market by storm. Xiaomi demonstrated in the last two years that affordable smartphones don’t have to be of poor quality or filled with trade-offs. The Xiaomi Mi4C is yet another element in the chain of affordable smartphones, and it’s a pretty nice finishing touch.
You can now buy the Xiaomi Mi4C with 16 GB internal storage for $240, or you can go for the 32 GB variant instead, which costs only $40 more. No matter which you choose, MIUI 7 and Android 5.1 Lollipop will keep you covered. Xiaomi’s devices are reputable, high-end and popular, thanks to their metallic design, affordable price, easy-to-use user interface, good battery life and very good performance, especially in the long term.
The Xiaomi Mi4X features a 5-inch display that comes in with a very good FHD resolution touchscreen panel encased in a polycarbonate chassis and metal frame. The design of the handset is fresh and colorful, but remains true to the rectangular shape that we’re used when it comes to Xiaomi smartphones. The Chinese company added an interesting and innovative feature to the Xiaomi Mi4C in the form of actionable sides.
Actionable sides just means that you can use the edges of the Xiaomi Mi4C to take a quick photo or go back in the menu/app that you were in. You can do these by tapping on the edge of the device and that’s a feature that is still unique to the device. Moreover, the design of the device allows for a big battery to be used and Xiaomi chose a large 3080 mAh one. That battery should last for at least two days on regular use, which is pretty nice.
The Xiaomi Mi4C also features top-notch connectivity, as it is outfitted with a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 SIM card slots, both compatible with 4G LTE, Quick Charge 2.0, Infrared blaster and of course, Wi-Fi. The handset is quite impressive and with the pretty cheap price that it goes for, it’s definitely worth the investment just by taking a look at the connectivity and design features.
That’s not all there is to the Xiaomi Mi4C however. Under the hood, the device features a Snapdragon 808 CPU backed by 3 GB RAM and 16 or 32 GB internal storage, depending on what variant you choose. The camera setup is comprised of a 13 MP sensor with LED flash and autofocus on the rear and a 5 MP camera on the front. The USB Type-C port comes with an adaptor that you can use, making this package a complete one. If all that doesn’t spell “balanced”, I don’t know what else does.
