It’s baffling to think of this nowadays but it’s been 2 decades and Pokemon remains a very strong property. It’s a franchise that’s been known in a global level and it continues to open itself to audiences around the world.
A few days ago, fans of the series got a set of news that would flip their worlds upside down. GameStop announced that, beginning on November 19th, “Poke-Centers” will be popping up in GameStop and ThinkGeek locations around the country, as well as online.
These unique areas will cater to the most dedicated Pokemon fans, who will find exclusive goods and collectibles not available anywhere else. Pokemon Centers have already been thriving in Japan, and now Western trainers finally get their own Pocket Monster destinations.
It’s the experience all seasoned Pokemon trainers have been looking for. Well, besides having a real-life approach to Pokemon catching, but we got that. Hoo, boy we really got something like that. Anyways, these Poke-Centers will reflect those seen in the games and the anime.
“We are excited to bring fans the highest quality Pokémon collectibles at in-store Pokémon Centers, before any retailer outside Japan,” said Janet Bareis, senior vice president of collectibles for GameStop in a press release. “The center launches just in time for the holidays, giving gift-givers plenty of time to find a special gift for the budding Pokémon trainer on their list.”
These places will have all sorts of knick-knacks and video games. The latest releases in the Pokemon series of games as well as plushies and trade-card Booster packs. It’s going to be a thrill to even step on one of those places. I mean, considering there are plenty of real-life Pokemon trainers who play competitively or just for fun. It’s good to have a place where people can come together and continue having a healthy relationship.
