There’s always lots of rumors swirling around each upcoming Call of Duty game, which are regarding what the company will be doing differently to shake things up. However, this year a rumor had been swirling around about Treyarch potentially adding a battle royale mode to Black Ops 4, and that was confirmed today during the reveal event. You can see the trailer at the bottom of this post.
Treyarch announced that Black Ops 4’s third and final mode would be a battle royale mode, which is called Black Out. This will not just be a generic take on the mode, but instead is being done in a way that makes sense with the brand. There will still be 100 players all battling to be the last man standing, and characters will be taken from throughout the series. There’s still lots of information on the mode that hasn’t been revealed yet, but the announcement alone is enough to get everyone excited.
Despite part of the shock being spoiled by leaks earlier this year, it’s still a very big deal that the series will now have a battle royale mode. This mode has been an absolutely massive success in gaming lately, and it makes complete sense that Activision would want to capitalize on it. With the likes of PUBG and Fortnite stealing a lot of the series’ thunder, it’s time that they stepped in to try and reclaim the mantle of most popular shooter.
