Super Smash Bros. for Switch has easily been one of the most anticipated games for the console this year, with the series always being hugely popular. While information on the game had been slim up to this point, Nintendo officially pulled back the curtain today during their E3 2018 showing.
First up we have the official title for the game, which is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While this title is good for differentiating it from past titles, it truly earns that title considering what it brings to the table. The company announced that the game will feature every single character that the series has ever had, easily making it the biggest roster ever.
This means that new additions to the roster are very limited, but they were still able to bring a nice surprise on that front. Metroid’s Ridley will be joining the game’s roster, and truly stands out from the pack with an extremely intimidating appearance and viscous move set. You can see Ridley in action at the bottom of this post. The following is an overview from Nintendo.com:
“Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series… EVER! Faster combat, new items, new attacks, new defensive options, and more will keep the battle raging whether you’re at home or on the go.”
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Switch on December 7th. You can check out the game’s full 25-minute presentation from the Nintendo Direct below.
