Microsoft has added a new game to Xbox Game Pass, and it is the smash hit vehicular soccer game from Psyonix called Rocket League. The game’s addition to Game Pass was teased by Microsoft earlier this month on the latest episode of Inside Xbox, and the game is available on the service now.
The announcement hasn’t been made officially by Microsoft yet, as the game has instead been spotted by users on Game Pass. For those unfamiliar with Game Pass, it is essentially Netflix for video games. Users pay $9.99 and have access to over 100 Xbox games, including major games right at launch. It’s an absolute bargain when considering the value, and has been well received by fans so far.
Rocket League got its foot in the door by being a free PlayStation Plus game at launch in July of 2015. From there the game’s popularity skyrocketed, with its simultaneous release on PC also doing very well. The game then launched for Xbox One in February of the following year, and then coming to Switch late last year.
While some have wondered if a sequel is in the works considering the game has been available for a few years now, the developer recently confirmed that Rocket League 2 isn’t happening. They instead want to focus on expanding what they have with the base game, and it seems to be working very well for them.
