DmC Has Now Outsold Devil May Cry 3, Now Second Best-Selling Game Of Series

Capcom has recently updated their list of platinum games, which come with updated sales numbers for each of their titles. The latest update has revealed that Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry has surpassed Devil May Cry 3 in sales, making it now the second best-selling game in the series behind only Devil May Cry 4.
The following is a breakdown of the sales numbers for each installment in the series, though keep in mind that it is only including individual game sales. This means that it does not include the HD Collection of the original trilogy, which does impact these numbers greatly.
Devil May Cry 4 – 3M
DmC Devil May Cry – 2.4M
Devil May Cry 3 – 2.3M
Devil May Cry – 2.16M
Devil May Cry 2 – 1.7M
Devil May Cry HD Collection – 1.1M
It’s hard to break down how much of the 1.1 million of the HD Collection would have gone to the third game in the series, but seeing that it’s considered to be the best by many means it likely would have been a sizable chunk.
Next up for the series is Devil May Cry 5, with Capcom returning to the developer’s chair. The game is set to launch in the Spring of 2019, and will be a continuation of Devil May Cry 4 rather than Ninja Theory’s DmC. We recently got more information on the upcoming game, which came from the developer during a podcast.
