The hype for this year’s Game Awards is pretty high, as creator Geoff Keighley has gone on record saying that it will have more big announcements than any other show in the past. While some might have hoped that Cyberpunk 2077 might have been involved with a new trailer, the developer has now confirmed that that is not the case.
Developer CD Projekt RED Community Lead Marcin Momot confirmed on Twitter that the game will not be present during the Game Awards 2018. He said the following:
“We’re looking forward to seeing all the reveals and announcements during this year’s @thegameawards, however we’re not going to be showing anything there ourselves. We’ll share more details about @cyberpunkgame when we’re ready.”
Considering the scope of the game, it isn’t too surprising that information on the game has been scarce. The developer has said in the past it will be their biggest game yet, being even bigger and more ambitious than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Cyberpunk 2077 will be taking things in a notably different direction, as it will be set in a futuristic, sci-fi setting rather than a medieval one.
Cyberpunk 2077 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, though a release date has not been set.
