A new game based on the Stranger Things universe was announced at The Game Awards 2018, which is called Stranger Things 3: The Game. It looks like this new game is going to be based around the time of the game’s upcoming third season, though it remains to be seen if it is set during those events or possibly before.
While very little information has been released on the game, we did get a brief trailer that shows it off. The game has a very retro vibe going on, with the visuals being that of a game that would have released in the 80s (which makes sense considering that’s when the show is set). We see characters like Jim Hopper taking down enemies in an action brawler fashion, with the enemies then dropping loot upon being defeated.
The game was announced by the Duffer Bros. during the Game Awards event, with the developer being revealed as BonusXP. This developer is actually no stranger to making games for this series, having already worked on one that released exclusively for mobile devices. This new game was confirmed to be in development “for all platforms,” though specifics on that weren’t released.
Stranger Things 3: The Game does not currently have a release date, and the game’s platforms also haven’t been confirmed. We’ll bring you more information on that as it becomes available, but in the meantime you can check out the announcement trailer below.
