We’ve known for a while now that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be getting a handful of DLC characters post-launch, and now the first one has been revealed by Nintendo at The Game Awards 2018. The character is none other than Joker, who is the protagonist of the critically-acclaimed Persona 5.
The following is an overview of the character from Nintendo:
“The Persona games are a spinoff of the popular Shin Megami Tensei franchise, which has a long and storied history in the world of video games – with many of the games appearing on Nintendo systems. Sporting an iconic mask and a variety of weapons, Joker is the main character of Persona 5, a beloved game that won Best Role-Playing Game and was nominated for Game of the Year at last year’s The Game Awards.”
Having Joker as part of this game’s roster is fantastic, as this serves as a truly unique addition. Nobody really suspected that the Persona series would ever end up in Smash Bros., but now that it’s happening it’s hard to not get excited. You can check out a cinematic of the character via the trailer at the bottom of this post.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively for Switch. The game has been getting rave reviews since the embargo lifted yesterday, with many calling it one of the finest installments in the storied series. There are set to be a total of five DLC characters released post-launch, which can be purchased individually or as part of the $24.99 Fighters Pass. Be sure to check out the Joker trailer below.
