Table Top RPGs aren’t a mainstream thing yet, but with the popularity of Geek culture on the rise expect them to come into their own soon. Playing a tabletop RPG is something that even few geeks have done. After all, what most outsiders don’t realize is that there are levels of geek. It was something that I had personally no experience with and didn’t plan on experiencing for the simple fact that I already have too many hobbies. But as time progressed and I grew more involved in geekdom I was also slowly developing friendships with people who did play.
What I’ve found is that it is just as interesting and fun as playing any video game or reading a book. It’s a good bit more complicated than either of those hobbies, but what really makes it fun is the group you play with. When playing a tabletop RPG you will see exciting adventures and a boatload more shenanigans. I understand why people would be hesitant because after all, it is different. But my suggestion to anyone out there who lives and breathes the various facets of geek culture that you give it a shot. Just step a toe in at first and look up some of the funnier and more interesting stories. I recommend something like Eric and the Dread Gazebo or even The Head of Vecna. There are many great stories and interesting adventures for you. All you have to do is get out there and try it!
