Joan Lee, comic book legend Stan Lee’s wife of almost 70 years, sadly passed yesterday morning. It was reported that she was surrounded by family when she passed. Joan was hospitalized after suffering a stroke earlier this week. Joan Lee died at the age of 93. Joan was known for being a British hat model in the 1940’s. She was born on February 5th, 1924 in New Castle.
Stan Lee and Joan Lee got married on December 5th, 1947. Joan voiced recurring characters in various 90’s Marvel animated properties such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Fantastic Four. Her most prolific role was as Madame Web in Spider-Man: The Animated Series. She also appeared in a cameo with Stan Lee in X-Men Apocalypse. You could always find her supporting her husband’s love for the characters he created, showing up with him to massive comic book events and movie premieres. They also have a daughter Joan Celia Lee. This is truly heartbreaking news for Stan Lee and his family.
A flurry of Marvel actors took to Twitter to give Stan Lee support during this hard time Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Chadwick Boseman, Deborah Ann Woll, and quite a few more all took to social media to send their condolences. It’s hard to tell if Stan will still be available for future cameos due to his tragic loss. However, it was reported a while back that Stan had gone into film multiple cameos back to back. Luckily, that means we’ll still get to be delighted by his presence in Marvel films for awhile longer. At this point, all we can do is speculate and wish their family the best in this difficult time.
