Blizzard has generally been pretty good about supporting gamers from all types of different backgrounds. This support extends to disabled gamers with the addition of colorblind modes in Overwatch for those with visual disabilities. There’s been some complaints that the colorblind modes don’t work for all kinds of color blindness, and the team has responded positively to the criticism with assurances of plans to introduce the modes needed. What has been lacking in the game is support for the hearing impaired, and that will soon be changing with the addition of subtitles in Overwatch.
With the Uprising update, Blizzard introduced the ability to toggle subtitles in that specific game mode. While the feature is not yet implemented in other formats such as “standard” game play and in the other arcade maps, Overwatch director has confirmed that the technology is there for subtitles in Overwatch and assured gamers that it’s being rolled out to the rest of the game as soon as possible.
“Uprising is the first event to support subtitles. We now have some of the underlying tech and systems in place to proliferate subtitle support to other parts of the game. The team is very passionate about adding subtitle support.”
The subtitle report will work for hero voice lines, and will finally give deaf players a taste of the inter-character banter a lot of us are already annoyed by at this point. This addition of subtitles in Overwatch may give the hearing impaired another aspect to enjoy in a game that has brought players from all walks of life together in a common interest.
I’ll be honest when saying that I don’t know much about the current experience for the hearing impaired, but it seems like the addition of subtitles in Overwatch will add some unique flavor to the game for deaf players, but may still leave deaf players at a disadvantage. I know that some of my map awareness when playing competitively comes from audio cues, and deaf players don’t have the ability to take advantage of that feature.
While subtitles in Overwatch are a welcome addition, it will be interesting to see what other features the development team releases in the coming years to further support their disabled players.

As we ventured out of Vault 76 for the very first time, we were determined to find the answers to those burning questions. Recalling our escapades on the Push Square YouTube channel, we encountered quest-giving NPCs—a feature that was surprisingly absent upon release—awe-inspiring bases built by fellow players—and an abundance of loot that could easily burden us 76 times over.
In the midst of the vast array of open-world online experiences, we found ourselves quite enthralled by the combination of 50s classics playing in the background as we obliterated the heads of ghouls. And to top it off, we were able to enjoy all of this with our friends. Exploring the wasteland in the company of a ragtag band of survivors adds a unique element to Fallout 76, setting it apart from other games in the series. After a long wait, it appears that the search for a capable Hollywood actor to bring the brooding Shadow the Hedgehog to life has come to an end. Keanu Reeves, a renowned actor known for his iconic roles in film franchises such as The Matrix and John Wick, as well as his involvement in the highly anticipated game Cyberpunk 2077, has officially been cast for the role.
Speculation has been running wild lately, but The Hollywood Reporter has officially confirmed the casting, citing reliable sources in the know. News of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 being showcased at Cinemacon has quickly spread. Reeves is sure to bring his own special touch to the role, but it’s uncertain how well he will mesh with the mustachioed Dr. Robotnik, as Jim Carrey is set to reprise the character.
