Hellblade Set To Launch This Summer

Ninja Theory’s long awaited new PlayStation 4 exclusive, Hellblade: Senna’s Sacrifice is finally set to launch this summer on August 8th. The news comes via a Playstation Blog post, where the developed also decided to announce a price point and pre-order bonuses. Players can pre-order the game for just 29.99 and upon preordering will also receive an exclusive Dynamic Theme featuring the game’s now iconic burning tree scene. Ninja Theory in the same post also decided to release one last trailer before the game’s release.

Hellblade is the newest game from Ninja Theory, the company that created Heavenly Sword as well as developed the Devil May Cry reboot, DmC. The game is being touted as one of the first Independent AAA games in existence, which sounds almost like an oxymoron, but the Hellblade developers say they’re setting out to break industry standards. I’m sure this is a great place to start doing so by taking various creative risks.

Hellblade is an adventure game that is set in the world of Celtic mythology. Your character, Senua journies through a pre-Christian Scottland in the year 790AD, as she tries to discover what happened to the Vikings after they landed in Scottland in years prior. Hellblade is unique as its protagonist, Senua is mentally ill. Most of the gameplay and world design is affected by Senua’s illness with the enemies being psychotic manifestations of her own creation. Her visions make the world out to be a living hell. You can see this for yourself when the game launches on Microsoft Windows and Playstation 4 on August 8th.

Continuing the legacy of Baldur’s Gate 3 falls into the hands of a different studio, as Larian Studios moves on to focus on their own original intellectual property. Given the studio’s impressive track record, there is a great deal of anticipation surrounding their upcoming project. The team allegedly experienced immense pressure when embarking on their enigmatic upcoming project, and founder and CEO Swen Vincke expresses gratitude that the studio has successfully overcome that initial obstacle.

In an interview with GamesRadar+ after the Digital Dragons conference in Poland, Vincke discussed the immense pressure the developers experienced when trying to follow up on the success of BG3: “In a pivotal moment, we found ourselves under immense pressure, but I confidently declared, ‘Team, let’s cast aside all distractions and focus on the task at hand.” Isn’t that correct? We’re going to create another game. “And we’ll prioritize that.”

Expanding on the topic, Vincke emphasized that the studio’s upcoming project must be a game that the developers themselves would be eager to play. Although it may appear daunting, the developer’s gut instinct has carried them this far. “Clearly, it’s a highly ambitious endeavor.” If we are unable to trust our instincts due to overwhelming external pressures or the fear of meeting people’s expectations, our chances of success will be slim, resulting in a catastrophic outcome. Our main priority should be creating a game that we genuinely enjoy playing. And if it’s that, then we’ll be fine.”

The First Descendant is an impressive co-op looter shooter that has caught our attention. It is a game that has the potential to be similar to Destiny, and its visuals are truly breathtaking, especially considering it runs on Unreal Engine 5. Along with a thorough explanation of the game’s lore, the developers themselves treated us to a story trailer. However, the game’s setting still remains enigmatic, thanks to the overwhelming presence of unique names and overused genre tropes.

According to our findings, the turmoil started approximately a century ago when the Vulgus, interdimensional beings, emerged. They wreaked havoc on society, capturing humans for sacrificial and experimental purposes. Furthermore, the sudden appearance of the Colossuses resulted in the complete destruction of the planet. The remaining humans congregated in Albion, bracing themselves for the ultimate showdown.

The Magisters, a particular group of Vulgus renowned for their exceptional technical prowess, were with them. Through a collaboration with the Magisters, a fascinating gene called “Arche” has been unearthed in select individuals, granting them the ability to tap into incredible powers passed down from their forebears. The “Descendants” possess extraordinary abilities, allowing them to effortlessly defeat numerous Vulgus enemies. When they combine their powers, they can even bring down the colossal Colossuses.

Death Stranding 2 is currently in the ‘adjustment phase’ after completing filming and recording

The highly anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2, is inching closer to its release. Recent reports suggest that the motion capture filming and recording for the game have been successfully completed. Now, the project will enter an “adjustment phase,” where the renowned creator Hideo Kojima will fine-tune every aspect until it meets his exacting standards.

As reported by Famitsu (translated by Automaton, thanks to GamesRadar+), Kojima recently made an appearance on a radio broadcast to discuss the ongoing development of the game. The meticulous director announced the completion of filming and recording for the cast of Death Stranding 2, leaving some uncertainty about whether he was referring to the English or Japanese cast.

Additionally, Kojima mentions that the game is currently going through an “adjustment phase” that he anticipates will last for at least a year. This phase will focus on refining gameplay and visual elements, giving the QA team ample time to address any lingering bugs or glitches. We’ll have to exercise patience and wait until the latter half of 2025 to get our hands on it, at the very least.
