Marvel Netflix Series Get a New Teaser Featuring Stan Lee and Our First Look at Punisher Outfit

We recently got a new teaser for the Marvel Netflix series that both establishes The Defenders universe and gives fans a bit more of it. The vast majority of the teaser are shots of various events from the pre-existing seasons of the Marvel shows. That being said, they are interlaced with dialogue from the great Stan Lee and cap off with our first look at The Punisher.

Teaser:

The teaser sets up each individual hero with Stan Lee narration. He is seen driving by major scenes from the various shows in a cab, much in line with his role as a Watcher revealed in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The Defenders Netflix shows take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the movies probably won’t have much of an impact. Despite how much this trailer hints at Stan Lee having a future role in the Netflix shows, he’ll probably continue to just be a Watcher.

Stan Lee’s narration goes as follows. First showing off Daredevil and his skills as a hero, Lee states “They’re the greatest stories ever told.” We are then shown Jessica Jones saving a man from being mugged while Lee says “Heroes show us we don’t need to be perfect to do what’s right.”

From here, the teaser focuses directly on each Defender and gets into an aspect of their character. Showing scenes from season 2 of Daredevil, Lee states “It’s not about living without fear, but facing injustice.” Iron Fist gets his first moment in the trailer when Lee says “It’s not about being powerful, but finding your calling.” He then drives by an original shot of a big screen showing Danny Rand (Iron Fist) returning to the public eye, a scene from Iron Fist Season 1. Luke Cage also appears and Lee says “When you least expect it, they show us it’s okay to be vulnerable no matter how tough you are.” We then get various shots from The Defenders trailer that already aired. Lee’s narration follows stating “Because even though they’re heroes, they’re still human.”

Each of these seemingly small comments succinctly sums up the themes and message of each and every single show and hero that Netflix has put out with Marvel. From there we get the logos from each show then we get the teasers money shot: The Punisher. Jon Bernthal in the Punisher suit approaches the screen while cocking a shotgun and says “Looks like I got here just in time.”

The Defenders will finally show Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up in less than a month. The Punisher is also set to release later this year.

I spend most of my days working towards my Writing and Rhetoric degree at the University of Central Florida, but I spend a lot of my down time keeping up to date on the best TV, movies, and video games the industry has to offer. Here I put all of that extended time to use discussing each of them in-depth.

There hasn’t been much buzz lately about any new acquisitions in the world of video game intellectual property. According to a recent report, Sony is currently engaged in discussions with a well-funded partner to potentially acquire the renowned film studio Paramount, along with all the exciting possibilities that come with such a merger.

As reported in the New York Times (thanks, ResetEra), Sony Picture Entertainment is reportedly in discussions with Apollo Global Management, an investment firm, as per two sources familiar with the matter. In the past, Apollo had made an offer to acquire Paramount for a minimum of $26 billion, but their bid was ultimately turned down.

The terms of the joint bid are currently under discussion, and there is a chance that the two parties may decide against making a formal offer. Unnamed sources have revealed that Paramount is currently in exclusive discussions with Skydance, preventing any official offer from being made at this time. Investor opposition to the recent deal that Skydance brought seems to have been significant.

The potential impact of such an acquisition is immense. First and foremost, it would introduce adaptations of Sonic and Halo into the expanding media empire of the PlayStation platform holder. Following the announcement, Paramount’s stock experienced a significant 11% surge in after-hours trading.

What are your thoughts on the news? Is there a possibility of Sony acquiring Paramount? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
