Marvel has finally released the long-awaited trailer to next year’s Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. This 90’s-set movie will tell the origin story of the titular character, while also featuring younger versions of characters that we’ve seen many times up to this point. You can check out the trailer at the bottom of this post.
The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva and Mckenna Grace as young Carol, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Djimon Hounsou as Korath. It seems like we will be getting a deeper look at some characters we already know and love while learning about Carol Danvers in the process.
What’s readily apparent from the trailer is the time that it is set in, as the trailer’s first shot shows Captain Marvel crashing into a Blockbuster. Throughout the trailer we’re given looks at Danvers at various stages of her life, suggesting that we’ll be bouncing around to various stages of her life. We also see the younger versions of Nick Fury and Phil Coulson that we’ve been hearing about, with Nick Fury still having both of his eyes.
The movie definitely seems to have more of a sci-fi space feel than most of the other movies, as it gives off Super Man vibes. Very little was given on the actual conflict or the antagonist, but that’s to be expected since this is only the first trailer. There will be at least a couple more trailers that will release leading up to the movie’s debut next year, where much more information will be revealed.
Captain Marvel will release in cinemas on March 8, 2019. Check out the first trailer for the movie below.
