In Eastern Europe, in a country vastly known for having vampires and Count Dracula living there, called Romania, a festival starts to grow and gain popularity. I am talking about no other than Electric Castle. What makes this medium sized, electronic festival stand out is its unique location. Ever since 2013, Electric Castle is being held on a castle’s domain. The Banffy Castle is one of the biggest castle there is in Transylvania and has been in Banffy’s family possession from 1890.
The festival is set to be held between 14 and 17 July 2016 and has already started to announce some of their line-ups, which pretty much impressed me as there is at least one headliner band in my opinion. I’m talking about Enter Shikari who is one of the bands that actually try to make a difference in the world through their music.
Today they’ve announced 10 bands and artists: Enter Shikari, Rusko, Flux Pavilion, Matisyahu, Dub Pistols, DJ Marky, NU:Tone B2B Logistics, Congo Natty, Toddla T, Babylon Circus, LEGOWELT DJ Set, Moomim, Aba Shanti, Louisahhh!!!, URMA, Alternosfera, Shiver, Macanache and many more that are soon to be announced.
Ever since its first edition, Electric Castle has managed to be listed in the European Festival Awards for the Best Medium Sized Festival Category because it combines innovative visual concepts with electronic and reggae music and recently sub-culture genres.
Last year’s big headline was The Prodigy but for this year rumors inclining towards Limp Bizkit. Although Electric Castle started small it rapidly became one of the most awaited festival in Eastern Europe.
