Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice

Ninja Theory, developers of Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice, will donate all sales of the game made today to Rethink Mental Illness, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.

This announcement coincides with World Mental Health Day, which this year is aiming to raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace.

In an effort to continue raising awareness around the issue, each and every sale of Hellblade will be donated to Rethink Mental Illness. Rethink provide free advice, carer support, crisis services and much more for people suffering mental health issues. If you’ve been holding back on picking it up, today is the perfect opportunity to grab an excellent game and do some good.

Mental health is one of the key aspects of Hellblade, playing a major part in the story of titular character Senua, who suffers from psychosis. Hellblade is focused entirely on the story of Senua and a personal journey she undertakes. As the narrative unfolds, players experience voices, hallucinations and other symptoms that attempt to depict the psychosis that Senua suffers from.

Hellblade was generally well-received, particularly in its depiction of how mental health can affect someone’s life, albeit in a fantasy setting. It also obviously had a profound effect on both the development team and players, which was highlighted in a recent video created to accompany the announcement.

The tribute is a touching look at some of the messages Ninja Theory received from fans post-launch, with footage taken entirely in Hellblade’s photo mode. One of the main takeaways from the video is that many players felt Hellblade explained something that they never could, helping articulate mental health to those who haven’t experienced it.

If you’re looking to help support World Mental Health Day and you’re in the mood for an experimental, triple-AAA experience at a fraction of the normal cost, picking up Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice can let you do both.

While Sony may not classify Gran Turismo 7 as a live-service game, the team at Polyphony Digital certainly approaches it with a similar mindset. The game continues to impress with every new update, and although v1.44 may be smaller compared to previous versions, it still manages to enhance the already extensive content of this simulation racer.

The update, now available worldwide, introduces three new cars: the Audi R8 Coupé V10 Plus ’16, the Lamborghini Urus ’18, and the Toyota GT-One (TS020) ’99. Furthermore, it introduces three fresh events to World Circuits, an extra menu to conquer in the GT Café single-player campaign, and a collection of livery stickers inspired by the upcoming Highspeed Étoile anime, set to debut next week in Japan.

If you’re not already acquainted with Highspeed Étoile, you can watch a trailer right here. “Sony has announced that a collection of 26 stickers, consisting of 8 title logos and 18 main character stickers, will be made available for a limited time,” stated Sony on the PS Blog. In addition, Fukushima will be included as a backdrop in the title’s beloved photography mode.

This author has consistently praised the realistic portrayal of tennis in TopSpin 4. After more than a decade, we are thrilled to witness the release of TopSpin 2K25, which expands upon the success of its renowned predecessor. This gameplay video provides a comprehensive overview of the features discussed in our recent preview while also incorporating relevant footage to enhance understanding.

The series’ swing system sets it apart from arcade-style games like Virtua Tennis, as it requires players to charge up their shots in a different way. In order to succeed, timing is crucial, and fortunately, a new meter above your player will assist you in achieving that. Surfaces have their own distinct characteristics, such as clay, where you’ll experience a noticeable amount of sliding.

The game ensures that every player has a distinct set of animations, adding a touch of individuality to each competitor. The courts, found in all Grand Slams, possess a remarkable amount of individuality and charm. It is mentioned in the video that with each in-game season, players can expect a plethora of additional content, such as animation packs. This indicates that there will be plenty to anticipate even after the game’s initial release.

Developers are reportedly questioning the purpose behind Sony’s PS5 Pro upgrade

Two major stories have emerged at GDC this year: the decline of Xbox’s brand and the speculation surrounding the purpose of the PS5 Pro. During a podcast discussion, Christopher Dring, a prominent reporter from GamesIndustry.biz, expressed his observations about the lack of understanding surrounding Sony’s rumored mid-gen upgrade. Dring claims that he came across a lot of people at the show who were confused about its purpose.

He made it clear that he anticipates “PS5 fans” upgrading, which gives Sony certain advantages. However, game developers are finding it difficult to generate enthusiasm for the system. “Developers don’t seem to see the necessity for it, based on my conversations with them,” he disclosed. Some people believe they aren’t fully maximizing the potential of the PS5 from the start.

With the lingering effects of the pandemic and the lengthy development cycles, the PlayStation 5 has yet to showcase a substantial lineup of exclusive blockbuster titles. “Some companies expressed skepticism about the potential for growth and impact,” Dring nonchalantly remarked. This current generation of consoles appears to have barely begun, with no apparent demand for a mid-generation update. How about we focus on developing fresh, cutting-edge software?

The journalist later explained that Sony likely has realistic expectations for the refresh, understanding that it will likely have limited appeal to a specific audience. As we’ve mentioned before, the introduction of PlayStation Spectral Resolution and other innovative features is aimed at enhancing the performance modes in games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Thus, if such an experience resonates with your preferences, you likely fall into the niche audience that PlayStation aims to cater to.
