Google News & Weather app now also available on iOS

Google News & Weather app now also available on iOS

October 8, 2014

The popular Google News & Weather app is now on iOS, after having already been available on Android for a long time. The app has the exact same name on iOS as it does on Android and serves the same function. Google News & Weather displays the current local weather as well as the latest news headlines on your home screen. Google calls the app “your comprehensive and personalized view of headline stories and local news & weather” and rightly so. The app covers over 65.000 different publications and features 60 country-specific editions. Its interface allows you to view news by categories such as Top Stories, Technology, Sports & Weather, Entertainment, Fashion, Health and more.

You can tap any of the Headlines for a closer look at the related topics and read local opinions and perspectives. Google News & Weather also comes with a few useful features related to weather. By taping the Weather panel you can get details about the forecast for the current day as well as the next four days. The app also allows you to get more information on news and weather from other parts of the world and all you need to do is type the area of interest in the search field. In case you want to be kept up to date with what’s happening in a specific country, you can change the default to that area. However, you will have to know the langue spoken in that country in order to understand the articles as each area displays the news in the native tongue.

Many other companies provide similar apps, but Google News & Weather is arguably the best and most popular out there. In addition, just like the Android version, Google News & Weather is completely free on iOS. The app weights 9.6 MB and requires iOS 7 or later.
