The gift of giving is often one of those phrases heard around the holidays. It is not something usually mentioned on a birthday. However, the Dutch game developer, Joost van Dongen, is giving out his game Proun+ on his 31st birthday to bring some iOS users a bit of fun. Only on his birthday, on April 16, will his game Proun+ be available on the Apple App Store for free. In the racing game players move quickly as a ball on a tubular track that is lined with hazards. Each section of Proun+ has been inspired by colorful modern art making it a fast paced visual adventure as well as a piece of art itself. Joost van Dongen has worked hard to show that games are a form of art and share what they can offer with as many people as he can. Proun+ also has an original jazz-rock soundtrack. Plus, there are five different speeds for players to try. There is even an online leader board for those with a competitive nature.
Joost van Dongen is also one of the founders of Ronimo Games which developed Awesomenauts and Swords and Soldiers. For those who do not know, Swords and Soldiers II is scheduled to be released on May 21 for the Wii U. He also worked on the free to play game De Blob. He even has a game, currently on tour in the Netherlands, known as Cello Fortress where the game’s fortress is defended by the playing of a cello as a controller and those less musically inclined attack the tower with their game controllers. For those who miss out on the opportunity to get Proun+ for free, the game will be discounted the following week before returning to its regular price. It is also available on the 3DS and those interested can pay what they desire for the PC download of the original game Proun.
