A few hours ago, the current Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima has announced his retirement from the company in June. The person who will be taking the chair now is none other than Shuntaro Furukawa. A lot of people wonder who this 46-year-old man is and why he is the new leader of Nintendo. Well, we’re going to take a few minutes to talk about Nintendo’s new President.

Shuntaro Furukawa is a man born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. His year of birth is 1972 and he spent a long time playing Famicom games like many of the children of that generation. Furukawa has worked in Nintendo ever since 1994. However, he has been focusing on marketing more than anything else. Currently, he’s the leader of Nintendo’s Global Marketing Department.

Of course, there is also the fact that he has spent over 10 years working in Germany. In 2012 he helped The Pokemon Company as its outside Director as well. The basic conclusion that has to be drawn from this is that he has been affiliated with Nintendo for quite a long time, so he isn’t a name unknown for the insiders at the company.

He’s an individual who is very fluent in 3 different languages – English, German and Japanese – and has helped with some of Nintendo’s latest projects to become the success they are today. In fact, he was involved with a lot of marketing efforts for the Nintendo Switch and, well, we know how much of a success that console has been for Nintendo.

Not only that, his recent interviews have made him look like a visionary and a person who defies the status quo. “As a member of management with Super Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto (…) I expect to say what needs to be said to run the company.” He said to Bloomberg in an interview.

A final, but no-less-important detail to be mentioned about Nintendo’s new Prez is the positive reaction analysts had over Furukawa’s new appointment. “Furukawa comes across as thoughtful, very knowledgeable and quite well informed,” said Atul Goyal, an analyst at Jefferies Group, who has met him several times in person.

“The key thing here is that management is getting younger,” said Satoshi Kurihara, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Research Institute. “They will have to execute the Switch’s growth plan, so in that sense, this is a new start.”

Now that you know who Nintendo’s new President is. Do you think he will bring Nintendo to the top of the charts? Do you think the younger blood can be a great asset? There’s a lot to be discussed about this person so you can leave your comments below!

I always wanted to be a journalist who listens. The Voice of the Unspoken and someone heavily involved in the gaming community. From playing as a leader of a competitive multi-branch team to organizing tournaments for the competitive scene to being involved in a lot of gaming communities. I want to keep moving forward as a journalist.

While Sony may not classify Gran Turismo 7 as a live-service game, the team at Polyphony Digital certainly approaches it with a similar mindset. The game continues to impress with every new update, and although v1.44 may be smaller compared to previous versions, it still manages to enhance the already extensive content of this simulation racer.

The update, now available worldwide, introduces three new cars: the Audi R8 Coupé V10 Plus ’16, the Lamborghini Urus ’18, and the Toyota GT-One (TS020) ’99. Furthermore, it introduces three fresh events to World Circuits, an extra menu to conquer in the GT Café single-player campaign, and a collection of livery stickers inspired by the upcoming Highspeed Étoile anime, set to debut next week in Japan.

If you’re not already acquainted with Highspeed Étoile, you can watch a trailer right here. “Sony has announced that a collection of 26 stickers, consisting of 8 title logos and 18 main character stickers, will be made available for a limited time,” stated Sony on the PS Blog. This author has consistently praised the realistic portrayal of tennis in TopSpin 4. After more than a decade, we are thrilled to witness the release of TopSpin 2K25, which expands upon the success of its renowned predecessor. This gameplay video provides a comprehensive overview of the features discussed in our recent preview while also incorporating relevant footage to enhance understanding.

The series’ swing system sets it apart from arcade-style games like Virtua Tennis, as it requires players to charge up their shots in a different way. In order to succeed, timing is crucial, and fortunately, a new meter above your player will assist you in achieving that. Surfaces have their own distinct characteristics, such as clay, where you’ll experience a noticeable amount of sliding.

The game ensures that every player has a distinct set of animations, adding a touch of individuality to each competitor. The courts, found in all Grand Slams, possess a remarkable amount of individuality and charm. It is mentioned in the video that with each in-game season, players can expect a plethora of additional content, such as animation packs. This indicates that there will be plenty to anticipate even after the game’s initial release.
