Google Apps for Work which consists in Google Docs, Forms, Sheets, Slides and Drive and in communication and calendaring tools like Calendar, Gmail, Hangouts, etc. will be available for free, in a new promotion. With this move Google is trying to get more Google Apps for Work customers. Google is still under an Enterprise Agreement (EA) with another provider and according to a Google post, they will cover all the expenses associated with Google Apps for Work until the contract runs out.
This move is obviously directed at Microsoft or IBM, but they didn’t call them out by name so it’s well understood that this shot is for their top competitors for Google Apps productivity suite and related tools. Google also explains on the Google Apps website that the customers can see a cost savings up to 70% by switching to their apps, according to Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
Google didn’t mention how long this promotion will be available, but it is offered to customers from US and Canada at the moment. But the company is saying that they will bring this offer to global markets in the future. By offering free of charge Google Apps for Work until your current EA expires, Google is fighting against Microsoft’s powerful tool of retaining its customers.
Although, once you change to Google Apps for Work, Google covers up $25 per user, for deployment, the final cost won’t be exactly for free. Yet, no bill will be released by Google Apps for Work until your EA expires. Google assures that once we try out Google Apps for Work, its proficiency will astonish us and it will also be cheaper on the long run, comparing to other providers.
