Things aren’t going to well for Konami lately. The company has been under heavy fire due to removing Hideo Kojima’s name from the Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain final cover art in the past few days but it seems like something else is going to bring quite a bit of criticism for the Japanese publisher.
Earlier today the Japanese company announced a brand new entry of the Castlevania series, one of the more popular series released by Konami. Unfortunately this new game is not what fans of the series expected to see as it’s a pachinko game featuring “Erotic Violence”. If you haven’t completely lost heart by reading this and want to see more of this Castlevania pachinko game, you can check out a teaser trailer right below.
Thing don’t look too good for the Castlevania series. The latest entry of the series to get released in all regions was Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, developed by Mercury Steam. The game brings a close to the story started in the first game but it has failed to be as good as its predecessor due to some weird design choices. The game is still a decent third person game, just not as good as the first one. Since its release, there has been no talk about a possible new Castlevania game, not counting the new pachinko game.
Those looking for some good old school Castlevania action would do well in keeping an eye on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an upcoming game currently in development by the former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi. The game, which has been fully funded with a Kickstarter campaign that’s been incredibly successful, will feature the Metroidvania gameplay experience fans of Castlevania love, with players exploring locations, defeat enemies and bosses, collect and craft items and more.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night seems like will be the only way to experience the Castlevania gameplay formula in the future, judging by what Konami is doing with the franchise. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest news.
