World Of Warcraft is getting a new expansion. Blizzard has confirmed it will announce details of a new expansion for its hugely popular MMO role-playing game next week at Gamescom in Germany. According to a post on Battle.net, Blizzard will live stream the announcement next week for the whole world to watch on August 6.

“Join us Thursday, August 6 at 9 a.m. PDT for a special World of Warcraft event streamed live from Gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany—where we’ll be unveiling the next chapter of the World of Warcraft saga…”

There’ll also be a second stream on Sunday, August 9, where the developers chat about the expansion and apparently give even more details on what’s planned. Further details on the stream will be announced later. “Stay tuned to our dedicated Gamescom page for further details on the live stream. Those who are able to join us in person at Gamescom can visit us at the Blizzard booth in hall 7.1. We hope to see you there!”

Rumours of an expansion for World Of Warcraft have been circulating ever since Blizzard filed for a trademark on “Council Of Glades,” which is expected to be the name of the expansion.

World Of Warcraft got its last update only 9 months ago. Warlords Of Draenor has only had 2 content patches and a total of three raids, which is relatively low. To put that into perspective, Blizzard usually waits around 2 years between expansions.

Even so, it’s not all that surprising that Blizzard is eager to get a new expansion out so soon. World Of Warcraft may be the most popular MMO out there, but even so, its subscription numbers have been slowly falling for some time. Whenever a new expansion is released, those subscription numbers rise, so it’s understandable that Blizzard wants to capitalise on that trend.

You can watch the live stream from Gamescom at 9am PT/1pm ET/6pm UK. The second stream on August 9 can be watched at 8am PT/12pm ET/5pm UK.

On October 25, 2023, THQ Nordic’s Alone in the Dark reboot will star Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Stranger Things’ David Harbour. Comer will play Emily Hartwood, while Harbour will play Edward Carnaby.

The demo, loosely based on the 1992 original, is available for download from the PS Store. This prologue, starring supporting character Grace Saunders, is inspired by Alone in the Dark 2’s Jack in the Dark demo and allows you to explore the Derceto Mansion.

The showcase didn’t focus on combat, but previous showings have shown a frantic over-the-shoulder shooter, and developer Pieces Interactive promises a variety of puzzles. Depending on how much guidance you want, you can adjust the difficulty.

We’re excited about the final product. Alone in the Dark hasn’t been respected in recent years, despite its huge influence. A compelling reboot that updates the 1992 classic looks to put the franchise back on track.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, a new real-time strategy game where players command one of four warring factions, is coming to PS5 in the grimdark future.

PlayStation’s strategy gaming renaissance makes us feel like we’re living in the best possible time for console gamers who love command. Realms of Ruin could be a cool addition if it succeeds. As fans know, Warhammer games are unfortunately inconsistent in quality, so we’ll reserve judgment until we see some gameplay.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin: your thoughts? What do you think of Age of Sigmar’s controversial rebranding in general?

According to Metacritic, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is the worst-rated game of 2023, setting a new low for AAA releases. OpenCritic’s story is similar. See our video or written review to understand why.

Only eFootball was more universally hated. Balan Wonderworld and Babylon’s Fall are other villains in that awful rogue’s gallery.
