Analogue has announced a new console called the Mega Sg, which plays every Genesis, Mega Drive and Master System game. The console is set to cost $189 and pre-orders are live through the official website. Shipments of the console are expected to start going out in April 2019.
While there are certainly other ways to replay these old games, the Mega Sg promises an experience without compromise. Framerates and audio are expected to be topnotch, allowing those looking for some nostalgic gaming being able to do so without any hiccups. You’ll be able to play games from any of the aforementioned consoles in full 1080p, and with the original cartridges to boot. Players will have some form of control over the display settings of each game, with there being multiple scan-line options and visual filters.
While support for the three aforementioned consoles will be available right out of the box, they are also planning to add support for Game Gear games, Mark III games, Sega MyCard games and more. This support will be coming after the console launches next year, with more information coming in the coming months.
Mega Sg does not have a specific release date yet, but we’ll bring you more information on that as soon as it becomes available.
