The importance of selecting the right font in a design is typically neglected by those who don’t comprehend them. The significance of typography in branding is vital in delivering your brand’s message and identity. In a design, fonts play a key role in speaking to your customers, and how you use them can make a massive difference in the message you are conveying. ●     San serif fonts

San serif fonts are ideal for brands looking for a tech-savvy or minimalist font. San serifs do not have extra elements, and the fonts are readable and clean. Therefore, they’re a popular choice for brands that want an innovative, modern, and trustworthy appearance.

San serif fonts are Arial, Open Sans, Helvetica, and Lato. Popular brands known for using san serif fonts are Spotify, Google, and Netflix.

●     Serif fonts

Serif fonts are the ultimate choice for companies that want to showcase a formal tone to their branding design. Serif fonts are known for their traditional style, and they date back to the 15th-century. Baskerville, Times New Roman, and EB Garamond are a few examples of serif font styles.

These fonts are called serif fonts due to the small flick seen at the bottom and top of the letters. It is a prevalent choice for corporations that wish to showcase a professional image, and these fonts evoke strong emotions of formality, supremacy, and trust. These fonts are typically used by financial institutions, editorial magazines, schools, law firms, and jewelry lines.

●     Slab serif fonts

Similar to serif fonts, but slab serif fonts are larger in size, bolder, and a bit blocker. These fonts are typically used to display dramatic or hefty tones on advertisements, headlines, logos, posters, and book covers. Serifa, Arvo, Memphis, Clarendon, and Rockwell are some of the popular slab serif fonts that you can consider using for your brand.

Honda, Volvo, and Sony are some big enterprises that use these fonts for branding purposes.

●     Handwritten fonts

Are you looking for informal fonts? If so, you can consider using handwritten fonts. These are a fun alternative to the conventional serif fonts and lend an unorthodox, out-of-the-box look to your brand. These fonts usually work best for startups that portray a quirky and fun demeanor to reel in new talent.

Handwritten fonts are usually used for social media posts, logos, t-shirt designs, banners, or even book covers. Some examples of such fonts are Permanent Marker, Shoreline, and Amatic SC.

●     Script fonts

Script fonts are different from the traditional serif fonts, and they add more panache and detail to designs. These fonts are created to mimic the handwriting of a person, so the design gets a personal touch. If you can use these fonts correctly, it can make your design more elegant, playful, or happy. You can even use it to make your design appear traditional.
