Another week, another Prey video trailer. Bethesda and Arkane Studios have not relented in their goal to inform everyone about their latest title without actually spoiling anything. This week focuses on the space station that makes up the entire setting and environment of the game, Talos-1. Before we knew it was used as a testing facility on aliens and where scientists went to work. However, we now get an in-depth look at the station from a gameplay perspective.
Our hero Morgan Yu arrives on the scene just after the Typhon broke out of containment and took over the space station. That’s why you’ll still see a handful of people alive who you’ll interact with in the “huge sandbox” of Talos-1. We’re promised very diverse locations from business offices, gyms, stores, labs, and even outside in weightless space. Obviously the latter won’t let you breathe freely out there, but some parts of the station won’t let you as well. So there is some planning to exploring. Although you will eventually be able to traverse the entire place at your leisure.
The video also promises that every level will be different in some form. The ideology behind this was that a lot of space equates to luxury. So Talos-1 will offer many different environments and perspectives. Additionally, the closer you get to the station’s center, the more you’ll find out about what’s truly going on. We know that the Typhon were being experimented on, but it seems there’s something even more still. You can check out the footage for yourself below.
“The aliens have escaped containment and taken over Talos I. But Prey isn’t only about fighting an invasion. And it’s not just an epic journey to figure out who you are, what you’re doing aboard this space station, and how you’ll save humanity from the Typhon threat. Prey is also about the space station itself. A shining testament to mankind’s unbridled ambitions, Talos I is more than the setting for Prey. It’s also full of secrets to discover and hidden layers to uncover. But, most of all, Talos I poses a unique threat to the player all by itself.”
Is it just me or is the scene with the scientist getting attacked by a Mimic, who was disguised as a cup, eerily similar to the movie Life? Specifically with the scene involving Ryan Reynolds’ character?
Prey will launch on May 5th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Are you excited to get your hands on Prey? Will it be the next Bioshock? Let us know in the comments!
