How often do you forget if you’ve locked the door? Or do you look at your watch and immediately forget what time it is? We are in a constant run and keep ourselves busy, but we tend to ignore our brains need and start lacking. Simply forgetting transforms to memory loss, multitasking reduces our ability to focus and although we are not getting dumber, we sure do feel so.
Our biggest temptation is to resort to little games that improve our brains capacity. One of the most popular app is Lumosity, but over the years studies shown that their games don’t bring a lot of improvements in our intelligence. The app does seem to improve some skills but our mental capabilities aren’t being developed further.
Recently, Monclarity has unveiled its own brain training app called Brainwell, which promises to be more trustworthy than its opponents. The company brought an addition to the developing team, one of the founders is actually a neuropsychologist and cognitive neuroscientist. If not else, his presence in the team gives some more neuroscientific basis to the app.
Brainwell is available since 8th September on Android, iOS, Kindle and the web and it shows some potential. The app focuses on developing six important cognitive functions: memory, critical thinking, attention, problem solving, language retention and visual cognition. As a plus, Brainwell is completely free for seven days and afterwards offers three free games a day. If you want full access to the app, the monthly fee is $9.99, at least it is cheaper than its competitors. If not for brain training, the app is worth trying for the games and their design.
