What if this is the starting point of the Apocalypse, first Amazon, now Skype is down. Who knows maybe Facebook is next, then Twitter, the Internet, all telephone services, maybe we won’t be able to connect virtually anymore. At 4:23 am EDT on September 21 multiple users started to report that Skype is down, they can’t log in or make calls.
“Some of you may experience problems with Skype presence and may not see online. We have detected an issue with the status settings of Skype. Affected users will not be able to change their status, their contracts will all show as offline and they will be unable to start Skype calls to them.” said Skype. If you are trying to log in you might be greeted with this message: “We’re a bit overloaded right now… Please try again later, or download Skype to use it anytime”.
Almost instantly social media was flooded with the news, spreading faster than a virus. Even though you can’t make any voice and video calls in Skype, you can still use the instant messaging part which was not affected. We don’t know how much time it is going to take to make the Skype service online once again but the company is aware and working hard to solve the problem.
