Need for Speed

The latest entry of the Need for Speed series, simply named Need for Speed, hasn’t been received as nicely as other entries of the series due to a several reasons. Developer Ghost Games, however, will be trying to improve things with the game’s first huge update named Icon. All the details on the new update have been shared a few hours ago.

The new Need for Speed 1.03 update adds new Trophies and Achievements to the game as well as several gameplay tweaks and fixes, such as fixed for the AI rubber-banding issues and much more.

Here are the full details of the new Need for Speed 1.03 update.

AI Catch UP

  • One of the key things you have told us since launch was in regards to the balance of the AI Catch Up system. We’ve been reading all of your feedback on this, watching your videos and tuning in to your live streams. With all this feedback in mind we have made changes to the AI behavior which should improve your overall experience.

Community Events

When the update arrives one of the first things you may notice is the new tile on the main menu screen. Located in the bottom left hand corner this tile will be giving you information about any community events that are running, or due to run.

So what’s a community event? We’ve got three types of events that we’ll be running throughout the coming months, each one offering something a little different.

  • Bonus cash events will grant an increase in money
  • Discounts events will offer discounts on various in game items
  • Bonus REP events will reward you with more REP

The first event starts Friday, titled Performance Matters and will offer a 15% discount on all performance upgrades. The perfect time to go upgrade your new ride!

Icon Cars

  • If you’ve already begun your journey through Ventura Bay, you may have got your hands on Nakai-san’s Porsche or the 277 of Magnus Walker. In the next update Ken Block’s Hoonicorn and Morohoshi’ Lamborghini Diablo SV will also be able to be obtained. If you’ve already completed their respective missions the cars will be waiting in the garage for you to purchase, at no cost.

Neon Lights

  • With the Lamborghini Diablo SV or Morohoshi-San being included we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for you to take an early, in development look at neons. They will be applied to Morohoshi’s car only and here’s a taster of what you can expect.

Color Picker 2.0

  • When coloring your car, your rims, or decals you will now be presented with a new color picker. This will feature recent colors, pre-set colors, recent materials, pre-set materials, and numerical values on the color sliders so you can be much more precise when selecting a color or material. Improved functionality around working with colors was one of the big bits of feedback we received in terms of the wrap editor and we’re pleased to be bringing this improved functionality to you all.

Mirror Decal

  • There was resounding feedback from the community during the closed beta and through launch that this was important. Which is why we’ve decided to add it in! When accessing the layers screen there will now be a button prompt that allows you to send any layer from the left side of the car to the right (and vice versa). This works on both the side panels of the car, and side windows.

REP Increase

  • Reputation (REP) is there for the taking and those heading onto the streets of Ventura Bay will now find themselves with even more REP to earn. The REP limit will be increased from 50 to 60.

Daily Challenges

  • Included in the update will be a host of new Daily Challenges, with an eye on balancing the types of events with less focus on Outlaw. Once the update arrives, you will start to see new challenges appearing.

New Trophies and Achievements

There will be three new trophies and achievements for you to earn:

  • Fanboi – Put any of the new icon cars in your garage
  • Iconoclast – Win and event with each of the new icon cars
  • Mental Unblock – Get 350,000 Drift Score in Mental Block using Ken’s Car

Pre-Set Wraps

  • We are expanding on the number of off-the-shelf wraps that are ready for you to use. In total we’ll be included thirty new wraps, ready for you to use across a variety of cars.

General bugs, tweaks and improvements

  • A number of bugs have been fixed. We’ve tweaked things and made adjustments in other areas such as the AI catch-up.

Need for Speed is now available in all regions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Helldivers 2 proved to be a surprising success, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the gaming industry. As per Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, it currently ranks as Sony’s seventh highest grossing game in the United States to date, trailing behind a trio of Spider-Man titles, a couple of God of War games, and Ghost of Tsushima. It’s only been on the market for less than three months and is not even being sold at full price.

According to Piscatella, a significant factor contributing to the game’s success is its release on PC. He mentioned that, based on Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, the game has consistently ranked first in terms of active users on Steam in the US since its launch, including April. The release of Helldivers 2 on both PlayStation and PC has been an extraordinary triumph.

He stated that Helldivers 2 has already become the seventh highest-grossing Sony-published game in history. Without a PC, it would not currently be considered one of the top 20 games. While I’m emphasizing the success of the PC SKU, it’s important to note that I’m not disregarding the success of the PlayStation SKU. I just wanted to clarify that. This launch has proven to be incredibly successful.

Prior to the release of Helldivers 2, Sony made it clear that they would be launching their live service-style titles simultaneously on both the PS5 and PC. The success of this approach will undoubtedly strengthen their strategic vision. It will be intriguing to witness if the company reveals official sales figures in the near future, as the title appears to be one of the platform holder’s most successful sellers to date.

Shift Up, the Korean developer, seems to be reconsidering its contentious alterations to the Stellar Blade outfit. In a message to fans, they have urged everyone to stay tuned for updates and expressed gratitude for the passionate feedback from players. For those who may not be aware, a petition gained significant attention over the weekend when gamers discovered changes made to a few of the game’s costumes through a day-one patch.

The launch day update includes a fantastic New Game + mode, but some players were disappointed by the changes made to protagonist Eve’s outfit. These alterations sparked debates about censorship. Director Hyung-Tae Kim later clarified that this was the studio’s original vision, but he acknowledged that it may require further persuasion to win over users. Internal discussions were also underway to address any concerns.

There is no definitive confirmation regarding the reversal of the outfits, but considering the language used in the statement and the widespread controversy surrounding the alterations, it is highly likely that a future patch will restore the original costumes. Unfortunately, Stellar Blade will not be available on PC, at least not initially. Currently, the game is only available on PlayStation 5 starting on April 26, 2024.

Regrettably, it appears that there is no indication of a potential PC release for Stellar Blade in the future. In most cases, trailers for PlayStation timed-exclusive titles conclude with a disclaimer that specifies the duration of their exclusivity.

In the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launch trailer, it is explicitly stated that the game will only be accessible on other platforms starting on May 29, 2024.

Regrettably, when it comes to the stellar blade, there is no indication of such.

It’s important to note that Sony Entertainment Interactive published Stellar Blade, unlike Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This means that the chances of it being released on PC or other platforms in the near future are even slimmer.

However, it is worth noting that there is a chance the game might be released on PC in the future, given PlayStation’s track record of bringing their exclusive titles to the platform. However, it could be a while before this comes to fruition.
