This seems to be the year for epic movies. Ghost in The Shell, Logan, Wonder Woman…and of course King Kong. Many of us were surprised by a trailer for this amazing film and even more so when we saw who was staring in it: John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), Tom Hiddleston (Thor), John C Reilly (Walk Hard) and of course Samuel L Jackson (do I really need to mention films he’s starred in?)

Instead of modern day, this film takes place in the 70’s as the US Army is pulling out of Vietnam. A group called Monarch headed by William “Bill” Randa (Goodman) mounts a government backed expedition into a mysterious island surrounded by a perpetual storm. As they enter the island they are attacked by Kong. The military leader Preston Packard (Jackson) sets his sights on killing Kong under the guise of revenge for the men killed in the attack, while the hired scout James Conrad (Hiddleston) seeks to take the survivors to their evacuation point.

For those of us that watched the latest Godzilla film you may remember the name Monarch – yes this is the very same organization that had files on Godzilla tying in all the monster greats into one massive universe which is a step in the right direction for these movies. They finally have a universe to tie them all together and expand the idea of crossovers and introductions to new monsters that Americans have not seen before.

This film is an awesome monster movie and what monster movies should be. Epic battles, stunning visuals, amazing back drops and danger at every turn. There are also Easter eggs to the original King Kong film to be on the lookout for.

The star power isn’t overwhelming; no one is trying to out do one another and there is a good positive energy put into this movie. Everyone plays their parts beautifully without overlapping; it’s a nice smooth flow much like the herbs and spices in a dish just right not too overpowering.

Kong was masterfully done in effects as well. Making you focus on Kong’s eyes is a wonderful move to make you sympathize with the giant monster.  You see into Kong’s soul and understand that he is not a mindless rampaging beast, but a gentle wise creature. As for the other creatures on Skull Island they don’t fit into the kind, warm, and fuzzy department, they view a human as food.

The movie much like the original makes us question once again “Who is really the monster in this film?” Is it Kong because he’s a force of nature that can destroy all that is in his path? Or is it man because they seem to only destroy what they deem a monster instead of trying to understand it? The movie’s setting the Vietnam war is not lost on me it only adds to this question. We are in a war but why are we involved and are the people we fighting the monsters? Kong forces you to look at things from a different perspective something a movie rarely does.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Be sure to stay after the credits what comes will leave you amped for that is about to come next.

If you do go see the film be sure to grab it in IMAX 3D. Kong Skull Island was made to be watched that way and it is wonderful.

Kong is just a perfect blend of cinema. It has a powerhouse cast that doesn’t overpower or steal the spotlight from one another. The visuals are absolutely stunning and allow you to lose yourself into the environment and the movie itself.

ReFantazio Takes a Different Approach to Romance, Setting Itself Apart from the Persona Games

Atlus’ highly anticipated RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, appears to incorporate familiar systems reminiscent of the developer’s acclaimed Persona series. The game features turn-based battles that heavily rely on exploiting enemy weaknesses. Additionally, players have the ability to summon warrior spirits during combat. However, the most significant aspect of this game, which will be discussed in this article, is the bonding system. Through this system, players can spend time with important characters and gain deeper insights into their personalities and stories.

In contrast to the Persona games, the bonding system ends at that point. Unfortunately, players will be unable to pursue romantic relationships with their beloved waifus, which may come as a disappointment to those who have developed strong feelings for Hulkenberg, the party’s charismatic red-haired elven knight.

According to Siliconera, the absence of romance came up during a recent question and answer session. Atlus emphasized the continued opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with your allies while also introducing additional narratives through substories. In addition, familiarizing yourself with the supporting characters will grant you access to new archetypes, which serve as the game’s character classes.

In the Persona games, romance is not obligatory; rather, it serves as a means to customize your playthrough. However, it is quite unexpected that Metaphor has chosen not to pursue such a venture, considering the significant amount of discussion it typically generates!

Were you anticipating any romantic elements in Metaphor? If you’re not satisfied with your pre-order, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

It appears that many

are eagerly anticipating the launch of the highly anticipated PS5 exclusive, Stellar Blade. Shift Up, the developer, has shared a lengthy video showcasing the “secrets” found in the physical box of the game for PS5. From what we can gather, these secrets include a reversible cover/dust jacket and a download code for cosmetic items.

We must clarify that while we do appreciate the variant cover, it may be more appealing than the game’s standard art. However, it is not something we would typically classify as a “secret.”. However, what’s interesting is that Shift Up has confirmed through the comments section that this will be the case in all regions. Additionally, the visually striking action RPG will remain uncensored worldwide.

It’s refreshing to witness a developer going the extra mile for physical collectors, and it’s evident that the developer is determined to leave a favorable mark in the console realm. Stellar Blade is set to make its highly anticipated debut this Friday, April 26th, exclusively on the PS5.
