Gearbox Software is the first game publisher to partner with G2A. However, thanks to a literal metric-ton of backlash, Gearbox might be the site’s last partner.

G2A has a bad reputation for selling fraudulent keys obtained through illegal means and for making money off people who buy an “optional” fraud protection warranty. Because of this warranty, and because literally every other site that sells game keys provides a fraud protection warranty for free, people tend to accuse G2A of being a protection racket. So why did Gearbox partner with the site to sell a special edition of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, complete with a custom-made collectors box shot full of holes by 9mm live rounds (yes, seriously)? Because Gearbox was unaware of the site’s infamy.

I therefore have no doubt in my mind the people at Gearbox were confused when gamers raged about the partnership. Of course, then John Bain aka. Totalbiscuit chimed in with his take on the situation:

These tweets were enough to get the attention of Gearbox, because according to Bain, the company then called him to ask for proof that G2A was the hive of scum and villainy he claimed it to be. Bain provided enough evidence to convince the people at Gearbox that the site was not to be trusted. Shortly after the call, Gearbox publicly released a series of demands, which are included below (as reported by Polygon), and threatened to cut all ties with the site if they were not met:

  1. Within 30 days, G2A Shield (aka, customer fraud protection) is made free instead of a separate paid subscription service within terms offered by other major marketplaces. All customers who spend money deserve fraud protection from a storefront. To that end, all existing G2A Shield customers are notified by April 14th that fraud protection services are now free, and they will no longer be charged for this.
  2. Within 90 days, G2A will open up a web service or API to certified developers and publishers to search for and flag for immediate removal, keys that are fraudulent. This access will be free of charge and will not require payment by the content holders.
  3. G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 60 days implement throttling for non-certified developers and publishers at the title, userid, and account payable levels for a fraud flagging process. This is to protect content providers from having large quantities of stolen goods flipped on G2A before they can be flagged.
  4. G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 30 days, G2A restructures its payment system so that customers who wish to buy and sell legitimate keys are given a clear, simple fee-structure that is easy to understand and contains no hidden or obfuscated charges. Join the ranks of other major marketplaces.

Gearbox has essentially backed G2A into a corner. The site can turn over a new leaf and abandon its protection-racket tactics, or it can kiss any future deals with game publishers/developers goodbye and possibly be subject to a devastating boycott. One way or another, G2A as we currently know it will cease to exist in the near future

All you have to do to get my attention is talk about video games, technology, anime, and/or Dungeons & Dragons - also people in spandex fighting rubber suited monsters.

ReFantazio Takes a Different Approach to Romance, Setting Itself Apart from the Persona Games

Atlus’ highly anticipated RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, appears to incorporate familiar systems reminiscent of the developer’s acclaimed Persona series. The game features turn-based battles that heavily rely on exploiting enemy weaknesses. Additionally, players have the ability to summon warrior spirits during combat. However, the most significant aspect of this game, which will be discussed in this article, is the bonding system. Through this system, players can spend time with important characters and gain deeper insights into their personalities and stories.

In contrast to the Persona games, the bonding system ends at that point. Unfortunately, players will be unable to pursue romantic relationships with their beloved waifus, which may come as a disappointment to those who have developed strong feelings for Hulkenberg, the party’s charismatic red-haired elven knight.

According to Siliconera, the absence of romance came up during a recent question and answer session. Atlus emphasized the continued opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with your allies while also introducing additional narratives through substories. In addition, familiarizing yourself with the supporting characters will grant you access to new archetypes, which serve as the game’s character classes.

In the Persona games, romance is not obligatory; rather, it serves as a means to customize your playthrough. However, it is quite unexpected that Metaphor has chosen not to pursue such a venture, considering the significant amount of discussion it typically generates!

Were you anticipating any romantic elements in Metaphor? If you’re not satisfied with your pre-order, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

It appears that many

are eagerly anticipating the launch of the highly anticipated PS5 exclusive, Stellar Blade. Shift Up, the developer, has shared a lengthy video showcasing the “secrets” found in the physical box of the game for PS5. From what we can gather, these secrets include a reversible cover/dust jacket and a download code for cosmetic items.

We must clarify that while we do appreciate the variant cover, it may be more appealing than the game’s standard art. However, it is not something we would typically classify as a “secret.”. However, what’s interesting is that Shift Up has confirmed through the comments section that this will be the case in all regions. Additionally, the visually striking action RPG will remain uncensored worldwide.

It’s refreshing to witness a developer going the extra mile for physical collectors, and it’s evident that the developer is determined to leave a favorable mark in the console realm. Stellar Blade is set to make its highly anticipated debut this Friday, April 26th, exclusively on the PS5.
