Pokemon GO is a very very odd game to talk about. What else can be said about it besides the fact that it has been one of the most popular talking subjects of the recent generation of games? Sure, it may have had its failures and shortcomings, but it’s still a widely popular game. And thanks to this study, it also seems to reduce your stress levels as well!
To corroborate this information, the University of Tokyo took the time to make a study. Over 3,000 players were in a survey to determine how much Pokemon GO plays a role on Stress reduction. Most of the players surveyed were full-time workers with high levels of stress.
According to the survey results, playing Pokemon GO for over a month has resulted in a dramatic decrease of their stress levels. This, by extension, generally increases their mental health conditions.
“Improvement in psychological distress was significantly greater among Pokémon Go players than among non-players,” the team noted. “Pokémon Go may be effective for improving psychological distress among workers.”
Another aspect the survey results noted was the fact that Pokemon GO required physical activity. Which reduces the risk of heart attack and other kinds of health related incidents.
Pokemon GO, The Stress Reliever, and Fitness App?
Once again, Pokemon GO is a very odd subject to talk about in my opinion. Mostly because you don’t have much of an idea of what’s to expect from an app like this. People often told me that the game was dying/is dead. But there is still a very healthy user-base catching Pokemon out there.
With the results of this survey data, maybe I will jump in the bandwagon as well. Because it seems to be a healthy activity that might be helpful to my fitness. However, I’d heavily suggest other players to jump on the bandwagon as well if you haven’t already.
