Michael Martin brought the thunder over at the PlayStation Blog a few days ago. The eSports Manager at Capcom talked about some news regarding Capcom Cup 2017. This new edition of the prestigious tournament series that will take place next month will have a huge prize pool. One of the highest prize pools in the event’s history.
Martin confirmed that this is all thanks to the Street Fighter V community. Their continued patronage through The CPT 2017 DLC initiative was a very reliable source to produce the money in the prize pool.
This year’s bonus contribution to Capcom Cup’s prize pool will exceed over $120,000 USD. That means with a base prize pool of $250,000 USD, the Top 8 finalists will compete for a prize pool worth more than $370,000 USD and rising at Capcom Cup 2017.
With the fact that the last year’s tournament took a prize pool of $230,000 USD, this is a $140,000 USD increment over last year’s prize pool. And a very attractive incentive for the participants of the eSports tournament.
Martin also mentioned that as thanks for the continued support of the Street Fighter V community. The 2017 CPT initiative will continue to be available until November 29. Not only that but they also brought back the CPT 2016 DLC back at a reduced price. Here’s a breakdown of both DLC packs.
