This isn’t a hack or anything else. Sony is not even releasing confidential or official information. Essentially they opened a new app which basically allowed players to see the amount of time, achievement, and trophies that they and others have collected. The new venture is called My PS4 Life.
Of course gamers, as most denizens of the internet, are typically too smart for their own good. Several quickly figured out that when they can see the percentage of players that earned a trophy or achievement in a game it takes very little effort to discover a round-about number of total players for the game. It only takes basic math that kids learn around junior high and bam you can find out that Blackops 4 has around 9 million players total.
Of course, the numbers can’t be relied on too heavily, but it is a fair assessment to say that they are close. While this isn’t any dangerous information it is interesting to have an idea of how many players are playing each game. It also allows us an idea of whether developers are lying about the numbers they have been stating. One need only check the website where the numbers have been compiled in a very interesting list. Sony nor any developers have responded as of yet. No one knows whether they will as nothing too important is being shared out.
