7.2 was touted as the “biggest patch in World of Warcraft history”, and while that’s debatable, it’s factual that Blizzard is releasing more content and quicker for Legion than they did in Warlords of Draenor. Part of this commitment to frequent content is the idea of “mini” patches released in between huge “numbered patch” rollouts. These “.5” patches may be smaller, but they still introduce important balance changes and, often, new features. We reported earlier on the changes coming to World of Warcraft with patch 7.2.5, but it looks like Blizzard has snuck in another couple of treats available soon for testing for subscribers. The most significant of these additions are another micro-holiday titled “The Great Gnomeregan Race” and a new pet battle dungeon.
There’s little to no details released about The Great Gnomeregan Race coming with patch 7.2.5, but a Blizzard representative assured players that information would be released little by little as the event gets into a more solid state and, therefore, closer to testing.
Those who have already completed the Wailing Caverns battle pet dungeon will be happy to hear of the addition of a Deadmines dungeon to work through with your favorite companions in patch 7.2.5. This continued commitment to expanding content for pets is exciting to me as an avid collector and trainer of battle pets. Though many would argue the most important additions Blizzard can make is new story and dungeon / raid content, it’s nice to see the more “fun” and extraneous activities given a little love (Now can we please further flesh out Archaeology?).
In terms of practical class changes, Blizzard also has some news there but they warn players that changes are “rapidly iterating” and that no additions to the patch 7.2.5 PTR should be viewed as the final state of all affected specs. “There’s…a new round of class changes ready for testing in this build, with a particular focus on Brewmaster Monks, Discipline Priests, Enhancement Shaman, Outlaw and Subtlety Rogues, Arms Warriors, and all Warlock specs, plus a few tweaks here and there for some other specs.”
What do you guys think The Great Gnomeregan Race micro-holiday will entail? I’m imagining something to do with Gnomeregan and a timed race (obviously) but it will be interesting to see what exactly we can expect and we receive more info on the event in the coming days.
