Castlevania Producer Leaves Konami Launches game on Kickstarter

Famed Castelvania producer Koji Igarashi announces his departure from Konami to begin raising funds on Kickstarter for a new project

Castlevania is a series that has stood the test of time in ways that no other game series has or probably ever will. Reaching clear back to the days of 8 bit gaming Castlevania has graced scores of platforms and weaved one of the most intricate pieces of game lore in history. Its popularity could be traced back in large part to one man, its producer Koji Igarashi; who had more passion for his game series than many of its fans. Clear up until Konami opted to take the series out of his hands, placing Metal Gear Solid producer Hideo Kojima.

That’s led to years of neglect by Konami that has finally convinced the veteran producer to leave the company that’s been going through a serious rough patch this year. Now on his Igarashi has launched a spiritual successor to Castelvania on Kickstarter called Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Set release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One Ritual of Night will have all hallmarks of a Castlevania game without Konami’s trademarks. Igarashi has high hopes for the games success even though it will be more expensive develop without access to Castlevania’s assets.

The Kickstarter campaign, with a goal of $5oo,000, already has investment backing according to Igarashi. Stating that the reason the goal is set so high is to first ensure that Ritual of Night will have a high quality budget; but more importantly he and his team would like to produce the game on disc for the PS4 and Xbox One. Giving gamers who prefer physical copies over digital download an option the average Kickstarter campaign doesn’t. During the campaign Igarashi also wants to develop a connection with the massive Western fan base he never knew he had.

Partnering with Fangamer to create rewards for the campaign the ex Castlevania producer wants to get fans involved in the development process. Realizing that fan involvement can not only help craft a stronger gamer but also give him and his team a constant vote of confidence. Fangamer is helping that process along by encouraging fans to create fan art, stories, and videos about the Ritual of Night universe to raise excitement about the campaign. Its never easy launching a new IP and the team is hopeful that encouraging fans to get involved will make the ride smoother.

Of course a quick look at the former Konami producers campaign page will show that he and his team have very little to worry about. Barely after opening the game has already completely blown past its original funding goal. Hitting as of the time of this writing $835, 401, a number that is quite literally rising by the second. Few would be surprised if Ritual of Night were to reach a over a million before the campaign closes.

Just like most other people are here, Ryan is very passionate about gaming and technology. When he's not writing about video games, you'll likely find him talking about the latest gadgets.

ReFantazio Takes a Different Approach to Romance, Setting Itself Apart from the Persona Games

Atlus’ highly anticipated RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, appears to incorporate familiar systems reminiscent of the developer’s acclaimed Persona series. The game features turn-based battles that heavily rely on exploiting enemy weaknesses. Additionally, players have the ability to summon warrior spirits during combat. However, the most significant aspect of this game, which will be discussed in this article, is the bonding system. Through this system, players can spend time with important characters and gain deeper insights into their personalities and stories.

In contrast to the Persona games, the bonding system ends at that point. Unfortunately, players will be unable to pursue romantic relationships with their beloved waifus, which may come as a disappointment to those who have developed strong feelings for Hulkenberg, the party’s charismatic red-haired elven knight.

According to Siliconera, the absence of romance came up during a recent question and answer session. Atlus emphasized the continued opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with your allies while also introducing additional narratives through substories. In addition, familiarizing yourself with the supporting characters will grant you access to new archetypes, which serve as the game’s character classes.

In the Persona games, romance is not obligatory; rather, it serves as a means to customize your playthrough. However, it is quite unexpected that Metaphor has chosen not to pursue such a venture, considering the significant amount of discussion it typically generates!

Were you anticipating any romantic elements in Metaphor? If you’re not satisfied with your pre-order, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

It appears that many

are eagerly anticipating the launch of the highly anticipated PS5 exclusive, Stellar Blade. Shift Up, the developer, has shared a lengthy video showcasing the “secrets” found in the physical box of the game for PS5. From what we can gather, these secrets include a reversible cover/dust jacket and a download code for cosmetic items.

We must clarify that while we do appreciate the variant cover, it may be more appealing than the game’s standard art. However, it is not something we would typically classify as a “secret.”. However, what’s interesting is that Shift Up has confirmed through the comments section that this will be the case in all regions. Additionally, the visually striking action RPG will remain uncensored worldwide.

It’s refreshing to witness a developer going the extra mile for physical collectors, and it’s evident that the developer is determined to leave a favorable mark in the console realm. Stellar Blade is set to make its highly anticipated debut this Friday, April 26th, exclusively on the PS5.
