Surface Pro 3 and iPad Air 2 are the best tablets coming from Apple and Microsoft. They both are different when it comes to functionality or design. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is designed to replace the classical laptop, while the iOS based Apple tablet is a fine and thin 10 inch tablet, probably one of the best ones on the market.
Microsoft’s tablet uses a Windows 8.1 Operating System but it is still not an opponent for the traditional Microsoft based desktop systems, because its processor is not that fast as a desktop system with the same specs. The Apple iPad Air 2 is a thinner and a lighter tablet, compared to Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It also has a sharper and brighter display that has anti glare technology. A fingerprint sensor to unlock it is another well known feature of the iPad Air 2. A very fast processor, which can keep up to the Surface Pro 3 I5 CPU in certain circumstances, is also something very wanted for different kinds of users like, for example, the gamers.
Going further with the comparison, the iPad Air 2 seems to dominate the competition, having a battery life of 10 hours, while Surface Pro 3 has only 8 to 9. An impressive feature, especially that this Apple tablet is so thin and light. The LTE option can offer you Internet anywhere you go. A rear camera of 8 MP with video slow motion mode is far better than Surface Pro’s one, which only has 5 MP. The speakers are also better than those of the Surface Pro 3, producing high fidelity sounds.
iPad Air 2 price is much friendlier than Microsoft Surface Pro 3 price, because it has a starting configuration from $500 instead of 800. Surface pro has the advantage of being a much more convertible tablet, although for a laptop it should have had a higher number of ports. And Surface does not come with free Office.
Instead of a conclusion we might say that iPad Air 2 is functioning better if you only need a tablet. We are eager to find out the Surface Pro 4 release date, as it might surpass its predecessor with other intelligent extra features. Surface Pro is a convertible hybrid, which can have double functionality as a laptop or just as a tablet. With 64-bit architecture and M8 motion coprocessor, 9.7 inch diagonal, multi touch display of 2048*1536 pixel resolution, in variants of 16, 64 and 128 GB, the iPad Air 2 shows the world that it is the best tablet choice. Surface Pro 3 is the best tablet-laptop hybrid, one which has specs like: Intel Haswell Core I3/5/7 dual core processor, 64 GB or 128 GB variants with 4 GB RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB version with 8 GB RAM and full HD screen. Although it is the faster and more powerful of the two, the Surface Pro 3 has difficulty competing with the iPad Air 2 due to its price and OS. Even if it’s a leader in convertible tablets, Microsoft needs to do more in order to make their Surface line-up appealing as a tablet-replacement for the average user.
