Super Smash Bros fans can get excited. Nintendo has announced via Twitter it will be broadcasting a presentation about Super Smash Bros on 14 June, two days before E3 commences. The presentation will be hosted by the series’ creator, Masahiro Sakurai, and will be streamed via Twitch. You can check out their link here. The presentation will be held at 2.40 PM GMT, 7.40 AM PST, and 12.40 AM AEST.
This stream will likely be the biggest Smash Bros events for E3 this year, with Nintendo, as is its tradition, deciding not to have a full E3 presentation. (Nintendo generally relies on Nintendo Direct and Nintendo Treehouse to convey information to its fans.) Its products will be present on the show floor, however.
The timing of the presentation is likely intended to coincide with the release of new DLC for Super Smash Bros for WiiU and 3DS. On the same day, the game will receive a new playable character in the form of Lucas, the main protagonist from Mother 3 (sequel to Earthbound), It will be the second playable character to be added to the game, the first being Mewtwo back in April. In addition to the new character, there will also be new Splatoon Mii Fighter costumes and a new WiiU MiiVerse stage.
While the stream is expected to focus on the new DLC, many also expect Sakurai to drop a few details about Nintendo’s future plans for the game, such as any additional stages or playable characters to come. Nintendo has actually asked the public to decide on which character it should add next to Super Smash Bros, creating a site where fans can cast their votes.
