All fans of Nier, the action role-playing game developed by Cavia released on consoles a few years ago, have been really happy to know that a new game of the series is currently being developed. Considering how Cavia has been disbanded following the end of the Nier development, the possibilities for a new game were very slim.
If you’re eagerly anticipating more news on the upcoming action role-playing game, you will be happy to know that some of its features have been showcased recently by Dengeki magazine. Last week’s issue of the magazine includes a new interview with producer Yoko Taro as well as some images of the game’s characters and locations. You can check out the magazine scan by going at the end of this post.
The new Nier Project is the working title of the next entry of the Nier series. The game will be set in the same universe as the original game and will continue after the game’s fourth ending. Characters from the original are going to appear or be mentioned, but the new main characters will have no direct connections with the events of the original game.
Gameplay wise, the new Nier game will feature an action-based experience, with players being able to control multiple playable characters that are unlocked with each playthrough and story route. Even though the game is being developed by action titles masters Platinum Games, producer Yoko Taro confirmed that the new Nier will retain the role playing games elements of its predecessors. Weapon Stories and other familiar elements from Nier and the Drakengard series will also be included in the game.
The new Nier Project is currently in developed for PlayStation 4. More news on the game is apparently going to come this Fall so there’s still some waiting to bear before we will learn more about this exciting new release.
