After years of waiting, Microsoft has announced that the Disney-styled side scroller Cuphead is finally set to launch on September 29th! It’s going to cost just a simple $20 to purchase when the game releases. Upon its launch, you’ll be able to pick up your copy of Cuphead on either Xbox One or Microsoft Windows. The game will be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, letting you cross-play between your Xbox One and PC.
To celebrate the release date announcement, Cuphead’s developer, StudioMDHR brought out a brand new trailer featuring snippets from the full game.
Cuphead is a coop, side scrolling shooter starring a pair of Lil’ colored cupheads. The duo was transformed into cupheads after losing a bet with the devil, forcing you to spend the game trying to pay off that bet. You’re pitted against a series of bosses as you try to make your way through the game. Despite being exclusively bosses, Cuphead still features things found in a more traditional side scroller such as branching level paths and power-ups. Luckily, it’s okay to die in this game to reset a level. You’re granted infinite lives and you will keep your weapons even after death
The game has been heavily praised by fans and critics alike for its speedy combat and Disney stylized gameplay since it debuted at Microsofts E3 Press Conference in 2014. It’s exciting to hear that after multiple delays that this game will finally see the light of day. Studio MDHR even says a Mac edition of the game could be available post-launch.
