The King Has Fallen, Billy Mitchell’s Donkey Kong Records Are Erased

Mitchell

For years, Billy Mitchell was known as the highest scoring player in Donkey Kong. The amount of hype and inspiration that came from this person has been incredible. However, it seems like this legend is actually a fake. As quite recently his records were discovered to have been achieved through illegitimate means.

As such, TwinGalaxies, the organization that’s been keeping track of Mitchell’s records has made their decision of completely erasing his record official. This is a rather dark day for gaming as this represents another gaming legend falling from the heights for cheating their way to the top.

“Based on the complete body of evidence presented in this official dispute thread, Twin Galaxies administrative staff has unanimously decided to remove all of Billy Mitchell’s scores as well as ban him from participating in our competitive leaderboards.” Says the Summary Decision posted by TG this morning.

Of course, other organizations that kept track of Billy Mitchell’s “Achievement” were notified of his transgression. Like the Guinness World Records, who is probably going to retire the record as well. Not only that but Steve Wiebe is now the new record holder with his 1,006,600 score.

For those who still have their doubts about the authenticity of TwinGalaxies’s claims. This was a meticulous investigation performed by TG and at least two different third parties that all arrived to the same conclusion. With the help of experts, hobbyists and casual observers.

“Hopefully it is becoming more and more obvious that we care very much about our scoreboard integrity and will continue to improve it step-by-step, no matter how painful or public it might occasionally be.” The blog post makes clear that they want a clean playground.

The truth is what matters the most. Even if a lot of people want to cry about the status of the ex-record holders, it’s always going to be said that they have cheated in some way. However, this will lead towards a cleaner future for gaming recordholders worldwide.

I always wanted to be a journalist who listens. The Voice of the Unspoken and someone heavily involved in the gaming community. From playing as a leader of a competitive multi-branch team to organizing tournaments for the competitive scene to being involved in a lot of gaming communities. I want to keep moving forward as a journalist.

There hasn’t been much buzz surrounding Suicide Squad since its release in February. Warner Bros. was let down by the game’s underwhelming sales, but they remained committed to turning their live service vision into a reality. An exciting new DLC update has been released, introducing The Crown Prince of Crime to the game.

As the game’s first live season begins, players will have the chance to take on Green Lantern and, in the end, unlock The Joker as a playable character. Which Joker are you referring to? This is quite intricate. Furthermore, players can look forward to the inclusion of a Battle Pass, a variety of new shop items available for purchase, exciting Incursions and Strongholds to partake in, as well as an expanded selection of Infamy Sets and Notorious Gear to amass.

What are your thoughts on this? Does the allure of The Joker entice you to return to Suicide Squad, or have you remained a loyal fan all along? We value your feedback and would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.

While Sony may not classify Gran Turismo 7 as a live-service game, the team at Polyphony Digital certainly approaches it with a similar mindset. The game continues to impress with every new update, and although v1.44 may be smaller compared to previous versions, it still manages to enhance the already extensive content of this simulation racer.

The update, now available worldwide, introduces three new cars: the Audi R8 Coupé V10 Plus ’16, the Lamborghini Urus ’18, and the Toyota GT-One (TS020) ’99. Furthermore, it introduces three fresh events to World Circuits, an extra menu to conquer in the GT Café single-player campaign, and a collection of livery stickers inspired by the upcoming Highspeed Étoile anime, set to debut next week in Japan.

If you’re not already acquainted with Highspeed Étoile, you can watch a trailer right here. “Sony has announced that a collection of 26 stickers, consisting of 8 title logos and 18 main character stickers, will be made available for a limited time,” stated Sony on the PS Blog. In addition, Fukushima will be included as a backdrop in the title’s beloved photography mode.
