The mysterious absence from Naughty Dog on the PlayStation Experience and Sony’s absence from E3 2018 a lot of people thought we’d see some sort of announcement regarding The Last Of Us: Part II during the Game Awards of this year. Unfortunately, Naughty Dog seems to have absolutely no plans for any sort of announcement during the gaming gala.
Naughty Dog made this announcement a short time ago on their Twitter account. They certainly are looking forward to the event but are not going to make any sort of announcement yet. However, they also make clear that people will definitely get an announcement of the game for “When the time is right”.
We’re looking forward to celebrating a year of incredible games at #TheGameAwards this Thursday, however, we won’t have anything new to share from The Last of Us Part II. We’re hard at work and looking forward to revealing more when the time is right! pic.twitter.com/6iP1AA8ncT

As such, The Last of Us: Part II will definitely be absent from the Game Awards 2018. Another game that will be absent from the celebration will be Cyberpunk 2077. However, the loss isn’t that bad as there are high expectations when it comes to announcements thanks to the reassurance of the show’s host Geoff Keighley.
We're looking forward to seeing all the reveals and announcements during this year's @thegameawards, however we're not going to be showing anything there ourselves. We’ll share more details about @cyberpunkgame when we’re ready.
