Today, Square Enix revealed the next installment of their fighting game spin-off of the Final Fantasy series. Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT is the title of the new game and it will be the first game of the Dissidia series to come to the PlayStation 4 platform. Dissidia will be developed through a partnership with Team NINJA and Square Enix. The game will have a 3v3 battle system and will contain popular characters from past Final Fantasy games that will be playable.
These characters are all categorized into separate fighter types and will behave differently from others. Beloved series characters such as Lightning, Cloud and Squall will be playable in the title, in addition to new comers like XV‘s Noctis. Vanguard, Assassin, Marksman and Specialist will be the names of these fighter types according to the site. The game will also feature stages from other Final Fantasy games such as Midgar from VII and Eden from XIII.
Dissidia will feature a new story-based mode that will be written by Final Fantasy XV‘s Kazushige Nojima. The Dissidia series is known for its third-person fighting mechanics and “Bravery Combat System” which will be making a return in this title. The series was first introduced in 2008 on the PSP, and has been primarily a portable experience since then.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT will release in Early 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and is available to Pre-Order now. More information about the game will be revealed in the coming week as there will be a live panel at E3 with director Takeo Kujiraoka on June 13.
