Insomnia is not an easy thing to live with, especially when it lasts for extended periods of time. As someone who has been plagued by this sleep disorder for quite a while now, I’m well aware of how frustrating it can be. Not only does insomnia affect your productivity, but it also affects your health as it usually comes with constant fatigue, anxiety, irritability and various other symptoms that you really don’t want in your life. There are a variety of things that can help you with this, but their efficiency usually depends on how severe your insomnia is. Well, now it seems that someone has come up with a universal cure of sorts and it comes in the form of a little spray bottle.
An Indiegogo campaign markets the said bottle as Sprayable Sleep, an interesting new product that can help people suffering from insomnia or those who want to fall asleep on demand. It almost sounds too good to be true in a way, but actually, the bottle only contains three ingredients: water, an amino acid derivative called tyrosine, and melatonin. The latter is a hormone naturally found in your body and it is the key ingredient in Sprayable Sleep. Melatonin is the hormone that controls your day-night cycles and helps your body know when it’s time to hit the hay. Generally speaking, your body produces this hormone when it’s dark and stops producing it as soon as the sun comes up. If you listen to your body and go to sleep when melatonin is being produced at night, you should normally wake up early in the morning feeling refreshed. But it doesn’t work that way when you’re suffering from insomnia, does it?
Although sleep disorders can be caused by a wide range of factors, a lot of the time it’s our bad habits that end up causing them. Staying awake until 3 or 4 in the morning, pulling all-nighters, gluing our eyes to monitors all day etc. It’s no wonder our natural sleep patterns get disrupted. Luckily, it seems that people are coming up with products that will allow us to get a good night’s sleep and we don’t even have to give up on our bad life styles for it, although we should. It goes without saying that Sprayable Sleep is not the best cure for insomnia, but hey, it’s something. As for the way it works, you just spray a little bit on your neck about an hour or so before going to sleep and then you just wait for the magic to happen. And by magic I mean wait until the melatonin slowly enters your system and makes you sleepy. In theory, this spray should do pretty well as a temporary insomnia cure, but I wouldn’t rely on it for too long.
In any case, the Indiegogo campaign for this product has been very successful and reached its goal of $15,000 in just a matter of days. Actually, insomniacs everywhere chipped in more than $155,000 until now and the crowdfunding campaign is still on-going. Sprayable Sleep bottles are expected to start shipping this July in the US and August around the world.
