Last week, the United States Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage had to be allowed across the country. It was a great day for diversity, and the internet lit up in support of the move, which ruled that the Constitution guaranteed the right to same-sex marriage across the nation.
In the week since the ruling, social media and the internet at large has lit up with rainbows and hashtags to celebrate the occasion. The hashtag #LoveWins has been trending on Twitter for some time and people have been adding rainbows to their display pictures.
Game developers were also quick to get behind the movement. While the cynical among us will say they’re only doing it for the publicity, it’s still nice to know that game companies are eager to support diversity and inclusion. Particularly in the wake of certain social media movements, many believe it’s more important than ever for game developers to support diversity.
Here are just some of the tweets coming out of game development companies to celebrate the ruling:

The US ruling comes just a few weeks after Ireland held a nationwide referendum on changing their Constitution to allow same-sex marriage. The results of the referendum showed more than 62% of Irish voters were in favour of same-sex marriage and the country is now in the process of being brought into legal effect. Same-sex marriage is now legal in most of the western world and momentum is growing for those countries that haven’t already introduced same-sex marriage to catch up.
