For those who don’t know, the Zeldathon is a marathon where players showcase their abilities as they play The Legend of Zelda titles. The very first Zeldathon took place in 2009 with the main objective of gathering funds for charities.
Up until this very moment, they have lived up to that goal big time. The Zeldathon has garnered well over $1.7 Million Dollars in cash. Now, this year’s marathon will have the funds gathered by it donated to Direct Relief.
If you’re a The Legend of Zelda fan who doesn’t have much to do during December 26. You can always tune into the marathon from the official page of the event. There will be also a wide variety of platforms like Twitch for people to comfortably watch as people play Zelda games for a great cause.
Not only that, but this year’s Zeldathon also aims to give further incentives for the audience. Besides having the usual gamers playing the games to the best of their abilities, we’ll get things such as concerts, theater screenplays, special contests and all other kinds of sub-events that will make for a magical charity event unlike any other seen before.
This marathon will also have an active public participation. the Team is introducing “Missions” where the audience will have a set amount of time to achieve a goal. If the viewers are successful, they can unlock rewards such as behind the scenes videos, phone wallpaper downloads, and additional prize giveaways.
This is just going to be the best Zeldathon yet, definitely an unmissable event. Considering the time of the year we’re currently at, it really is a respectable effort pulled by the community.
