Nintendo has had a lot of success with the Switch so far, with the console already outselling the Wii U in just over a year. However, the challenge for the company now is to keep the console selling well going forward, and apparently many of their stockholders are not confident that will happen. Their stocks have been taking a nosedive over the past couple of weeks, which has caused the company to try and turn things around.
Nintendo recently held their general shareholders meeting, where outgoing president Tatsumi Kimishima revealing that the company has revealed their full 2018 lineup yet. He then promised that more titles are set to be announced at the appropriate time, which will hopefully beef up their currently bare games lineup for the rest of the year.
Nintendo’s E3 2018 definitely wasn’t as attention-grabbing as it could have been, with only two major games getting the spotlight. One is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and the other is the dual release of Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Evee. However, many were expecting much more from the company, and that disappointment has made an impact.
Of the announcements that many fans were hoping Nintendo would make for E3 2018, a big one was a new Animal Crossing game. It has been many years since the company released a new mainline game in the series, with the entries on Wii U being mediocre spin-offs. With the big success of the Switch so far coupled with the success of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on mobile devices, now would be the perfect time to release a new game. Hopefully that announcement will be coming sooner rather than later.
