It seems like we were just talking about how StarBlood Arena was the next big PlayStation VR game. Unfortunately, release dates come and go which leaves future launch days on the horizon. That’s where Farpoint comes in. The highly anticipated PSVR game that takes place on an alien world, features co-op, and a custom made aim controller. Despite the hype we never really learned much about the game’s story until today.
Developer Impulse Gear’s Co-founder, Seth Luisi, took to the PlayStation Blog to not only announce Farpoint has gone gold, but unveiled a story trailer. This is the first concrete plot details we’ve received from the shooter and it appears to be more emotionally charged than anyone ever thought. It features two scientists who go up in space to study some untraceable radiation. Naturally something goes wrong and they’re transported 800,000 light years from Earth. The foreign world they find themselves on is littered by sentient robots and deadly creatures. Not only that, but one of the main heroes apparently starts to lose his marbles because he doesn’t consider Earth home anymore. Yikes. You can view these revelations and the other sci-fi elements in the footage below.
With Farpoint being hyped on its gameplay and co-op possibilities alone, let’s hope the story only adds to the anticipation and doesn’t take away from it. The virtual reality experience will launch on May 16th, 2017. What are your thoughts on the trailer? Do you see Alien and Interstellar inspirations like me? Do you think our duo will make it back home? Let us know!
